Instagram recently – March 19 – debuted a new feature: a new checkout option allowing users to buy from more than 20 brands. Checkout is just a fantastic add-on to Instagram marketplace. As quoted by Instagram directly, the checkout feature is “a place to experience the pleasure of shopping versus the chore of buying.”
Since the earliest day, people have loved to shop on Instagram. And let’s keep in mind that over a eighth of the world population is on Instagram. Let’s browse some stats:

- 2/3 are under the age of 35.
- 72% of U.S. teen on Instagram (it surpasses Snapchat in fall 2018).

Instagram marketplace has been adding features to enhance the shopping experience:

- product tags in Feed

According to Instagram, they now have “130 million Instagrammers tapping to reveal product tags in shopping posts each month.”

In the US people will be able to checkout with Adidas, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Balmain, Burberry, ColourPop, Dior, Huda Beauty, H&M, Kith, KKW Beauty, Kylie Cosmetics, MAC Cosmetics, Michael Kors, Mr. Porter, NARS, Net-a-Porter, Nike, NYX Cosmetics, Oscar de la Renta, Outdoor Voices, Ouai Hair, Prada, Revolve, Uniqlo, Warby Parker and Zara.
Checkout is just one part of Instagram long-term investment in shopping. People will be able to pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Paypal.
People may be able to pay with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and PayPal. For brands, access to checkout will be limited during this closed beta. And businesses are able to integrate directly or work with partners including Shopify, BigCommerce, ChannelAdvisor, CommerceHub, and more in the future.
